Lee Miller began her modelling career in the US, during the 1920's, until she moved to Paris to study fine art photography. Her career took a remarkable turn when she became a correspondent for Vogue, during WWII.
Lee Miller's iconic style and charisma, is reflected not only in her home in Farley Farm, but in her photography, as you can see, it takes a certain element of charm to be able to jump right into Hitler's bathtub and look effortlessly-gorgeous!
As an eager art student, I visited her home in Sussex and aside from all the wonderful art and cherished memorabilia from her life and career, there were two things that caught my eye; one being the photo above (that was framed and mounted in her library), and two, above her kitchen stove somebody had painted a happy face (literally, a smiley face, but with character!). Apparently on one of the occasions when Lee and her husband Roland Penrose had one of their infamous gatherings at their home, one of their friends decided to exercise his creative streak. That friend happened to be Pablo Picasso!
In my opinion, Lee Miller is an icon because of her unforgettable style both in fashion and in the arts, she seemed to have led a life that entailed creativity, and I think that was the key to her success.
